The Jeweller's Guide to Twisting Wire by SRTolton The Jeweller's Guide to Twisting Wire by SRTolton
Edit #2: You can use your twisted wire to wire wrap stones! Learn how in the second tutorial here: [link].

Edit: Wow- a totally unexpected DD! Thank you very much Piratelotus-Stock for featuring. I hope this is helpful, and I also hope I get around to fixing some of those typos....

Phew... It's finally done! It took a great deal longer than I expected. Warning: this is 5MB download.

If you use or re-post this tutorial anywhere, please credit me (srtoltonart) and link back to this page. I'd also love to see anything that you guys make with this! I teach locally once in a while and its amazing to see what people come up with when handed the same material. :)

Have fun!

I have no desire what so ever to twist wires or the like. But these are simply well done and beautiful instructions. Well deserved DD, congratulations, the effort that went into this is obvious!

Really good tutorial!
Can I bother you asking the font you used on the "thank you"? and on the "srtoltonart"?

Thank you. :) The thank you is in "Freebooter Script"and the srtoltonart is in "Darling". I believe I picked both of them off of Dafont, but I may be mis-remembering.

I did not know that anvils existed outside the realm of slapstick cartoons @ ____ @
loljk really great tut ^^ Do you think this might work on other materials such as twine or plant fibres?

lol, if it makes you feel any better, I also have a 1 or 2 pound "traveling" anvil my family bought me as a joke, but I actually use it. It's so cute! -.- In terms of using this for fibres- unless you have a way of keeping them from unwinding (I'm not entirely sure how yarn works...researching that will probably give you a better answer than anything I can tell you) but I think you would need some bendable material in there to keep it all in place with this method anyhow. If you tried this with fibres and mixed in some white glue or some other fixer, you might get a tube of coolness but it depends what you're looking for. Let me know how that goes. :)

All the fun is in the making! I nearly never wear jewellery of any sort, whether I made it or not, and I don't really look at it other than for inspiration or to scope out techniques. Give me a hammer and some metal for relatively cheap anger management and I'm happy.

clearly, i never even realised mere wire can look like such an expenssive piece of jewelry... home made at that too.
